Buried at the Crossroads

non-fiction | paperback

In the summer of 1813 a young woman was buried on the isolated moors of Penwith, at a place where the boundaries of four parishes meet. She was just one of an unknown number of outcast dead who for hundreds of years were denied a proper resting place in consecrated ground, and were instead buried without service or ceremony at a crossroads or beside a highway. This is the first book to investigate these events in any detail and it may change how you look at the Cornish countryside forever.
