North Coast Books is an independent publisher rooted in Cornwall’s rich history, landscape, and creative heritage. We are actively seeking distinctive manuscripts that align with our publishing ethos. If you have a story, historical study, or visual project that matches our focus, we want to hear from you.
What We Are Looking For:
We specialise in beautifully designed, thoughtfully produced books. We prioritise projects connected to history, art, culture, and the natural landscape. We are currently accepting submissions in the following areas:
Regional & Local History:
Documenting specific heritages, folklore, or historical landmarks.
Art, Architecture, Photography:
High-quality visual collections, art histories, and design-led portfolios.
Landscape & Heritage Guides:
Expertly researched local guides and hidden history explorations.
Cultural Non-Fiction:
Distinctive perspectives on local traditions, travel, and cultural histories.
HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR WORK
To help our editorial team properly evaluate your project, please prepare a single email submission containing the following elements:
Covering Letter:
Introduce yourself, your professional background, and provide a brief summary of your book.
Book Proposal:
Tell us who your target audience is, why your book is unique, and list any competing or similar titles.
Synopsis & Sample Chapters:
Include a brief 1-page synopsis of the complete work alongside the first three chapters (or the first 30 pages) of your manuscript.
Visual Sample (If Applicable):
For heavily illustrated or photography-focused books, please attach 5 to 10 sample images or a link to a digital portfolio. For regional collaborative anthologies, please refer directly to your specific project invitation brief.
FORMAT REQUIREMENTS
Please adhere to the following simple formatting rules to ensure our team can easily review your manuscript:
File Types: Submit your text files as Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or PDF format.
Layout: Use a standard/clean 10-12pt font (such as Times New Roman or Arial).
Naming: Label your files clearly with your name and book title.

Your work is automatically protected under national and international copyright law the moment it is created. You retain all rights to your manuscript throughout our submission and review process.
Review Window:
Our small editorial team reviews every submission we receive. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks for us to thoroughly evaluate your proposal.
